Homeless puppy chooses dog dad and his fur family as its new home, claiming its place in the pack by running under dad’s car as he came home, dog mom says: 'He believes himself to be a lap dog even though he is quickly outgrowing that space’

Being chosen by an abandoned doggo is quite the honor no matter the situation. But when it's a puppy that makes that choice, it's all the more overwhelming.

The idea of a doggo out on the streets, alone, is one that no one enjoys. After all, doggos are super social creatures and without a family or pack to keep them company their lives become increasingly empty. That is the reason that so many dumped or lost doggos end up going in search of new pawrents when they have lost all hope of returning to their previous homes. Surprisingly they often find the most pawfect of homes when they do this, some believe that they are guided to the pawfect families with the help of the Doggo Distribution System (a mythical mechanism that finds lost puppers the home and family they deserve).

While we do greatly enjoy this theory that the DDS is watching over our sweet street puppers, we also believe that these doggos are incredibly smart and intuitive. Meaning that they themselves are more than capable of sniffing out a good hooman and we would like to believe that is what happened in this heartwarming story from Reddit's r/dogs subreddit as well.

  • Well, that sure is one way to be greeted when you get home. Most people would be satisfied, nay over the moon if their partner and/or pupper came running out to greet them the moment that they get back from work. So we can only imagine how heartwarming it must have been to have a scared lost puppy appear and try to find safety under the car that you have driven home in. almost as though to say “I choose you hoomans to be my new family, I trust and love you.”. It is just a shame that this family cannot yet see that they have been chosen by this pupper, even if they are trying to do the right thing by locating its previous pawrents.

  • Goodness, who would have thought that this story could possibly get any sweeter?! First off that name, what class, Hamilton, it sounds like an upscale restaurant (obviously the musical must be the inspiration for the name though). But the fact that this dog dad who had up until this point not taken his role all too seriously, is now stepping up to the plate to take responsibility for the sweet puppy who chose him. And we truly believe that the foundations for successful dog pawrenthood are rooted in taking responsibility for the pupper you have brought into your care. From that principle onwards you can overcome the challenges in the road.
